Heh, there's nobody out there to get.. Problem with UFAs are it's ALWAYS a
shitty crop, and very rarely does a signing actually work out. Who was the
big one last year? Briere(5years, 31M)? Tkachuk(2y 8M)? Drury(5y, 35M)?,
Gomez (51.5M, 7y)? Sure those last two have been decent, but they're making
7M/year... This year the field is way crappier.
I'd rather see G build the team in the draft and by developing players as he
said he would do. It will take a few years to see the results, but if it's
done right we could have a team which can compete for years...
For now, who cares what the roster looks like, the cupboard is way too bare
to expect we're going to win shit. Build up over a couple of years and
we'll see what happens. Too bad about wasting Lou, but I think he needs to
be traded for picks...

bitch if something happens, bitch if nothing happens, you sound like a
nagging old woman.
i would like to know who you think the canucks can get to better their team,
with so many teams with cap space?????

Watch your back the next time you go to the mall. Some ' nagging old woman '
will kneecap you with her walker.
Shouldn't the validity of the bitch be of most import ? Anything he said which
wasn't true ? So what I'm saying is come on, that's a lazy and unfair comment.
That's the point matt was making. It seems at this time, there's friggin'
sweet fa Gillis can do, except for face-saving hyped deck chair shuffling.
Mr. Bold should have kept his yap shut instead of promoting himself as
the next coming of Ken Holland and Toe Blake combined.
I hope we are all pleasantly surprised in 12 hours, but I'm afraid we're going
to see a desperate Mr. B scrambling his ass off to sign anyone who breathes
and try and convince us any aquisitions he could have made, ' just didn't
make sense. ' After all I'm not going to make a deal just to make a deal or
overpay and put our future at risk. '
' Besides, I knew we weren't close, and you can't just turn things around
overnight. '

now suppose gillis couldn't sign anybody, people will be bitching away,
calling for his head
and you never did answer my question, who do you think vancouver can sign
with so many team under the cap????
and the answer is? you can't think of anybody realistically who they can
sign, period......

db mentioned him, but the keeper-of-my-nut's mandate to pronounce his name in
a certain manner ascared me. Ever since I burned my tongue with a waffle, I've
had problems pronouncing the ' Str ' combo of letters.
But whateverhithnameith could be a sleeper and a good guy to go after.
Late Bloomer City, and should be able to be gots at a relatively cheap price.
As I see it, Mr. B had to hit a homerun at the draft, draft to need and
take Beach when he was available [ failed imo ] and deal to get need
[ failed imo..see Jokinen ] and now he has to sign fa[s] if not to need
at least to be converted into need. If he signs D, good if that allows
him to move Biesskaksassas for someone up front.
I really like Biekssasas but Mr. B's hands have been tied by Nonis the
fuckhead handing out no trades. It's Kevin or Kracker on D, that's it,
or the twins up front, that's it, or Lou if he would wave, that's it.
No one else on the team would get anything of value back.
Man, has the team ever been in worse shape ?

i think gillis pissed away his chance at the draft and his talk is cheap.
jokinen was our guy, a big, playmaking center... character issues? i don't
think so. he's close with lou and i've never heard a bad thing about him...
gillis got stood up at the prom, plain and simple. i don't want to see him
blow his load on some has been who's best days were with a blues team who
could never make it past the 1st round. i think canucks fans deserve better
then this shit... we've stood by and watched other teams snap up the best
free agents year after year... hell, even the oilers were able to land
souray last year. if the canucks can land hossa, great. but i don't see him
coming here to play in a defensive system, so gillis made another huge
blunder by keeping V... if i'm a player and i see what happened to naslund
under this guy, i ain't signing in van city for any amount of cash... and
another thing, if malone was his guy, he should've offered up a late pick to
negotiate with him before tampa snapped him up... he keeps talking about how
he's gonna turn this franchise around and revolutionize the art of being a
gm. well screw u mike, the vancouver fan is smarter then this, we can spot a
fake when we see one and this guy is just another weasel if u ask me. if
gillis would've come in with a lil more humility then maybe i let the draft
slide but fuck it. i'm tired of this organizations constant loop of
mediocrity, blow this shit to hell and start over.

and how much did souray help the oilers, lets see, 26 games played, 3 goals
7 assists, 10 points, and his number still worked against the cap as been
injured.

I didn't snip a single word for brevity or ease of reading because you
are right on all counts. Hopefully all will read it, or read it again and
get hit upside the head how fooked we appear to be.

While I totally disagree that failing Gillis because of a *perceived*
poor performance at the draft, I can't help but admire the persistence
of the newsgroupers. Most people would have given up a long time ago.
ashnvc members definitely ain't no quitters. Still complaining after all
these years.
