On Sun, 31 Aug 2008 09:04:00 -0700, Howard <...@discussions.microsoft.com

Installing patch KB907747 is stuck at 99% complete. Clicked on Cancel after
waiting over an hour for it to complete and it is now stuck at "Canceling
Updates".

The patch is an update for Intelligent Message Filter for Exchange Server
2003. 2008.08.28 (KB907747)

Running Windows 2003 Small Business Server with Exchange 2003.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Howard

One of the last things any IMF patch does is cycle the SMTPSVC. If the
service hung for any reason, it'll cause the patch to hang.

Try restarting the SMTP virtual server.

Hello Howard,

Thank you for posting here.

According to your description, I understand that:

You cannot finish the KB907747 Microsoft Exchange Server Intelligent
Message Filter update installation.

If I have misunderstood the problem, please don't hesitate to let me know.

1. please confirm the related service are properly started on the SBS
server.

Agree with Cliff that you should check whether the related servicews are
properly started on the SBS server. Please try to restart the SBS 2003
server to check how everything works. To narrow down the issue (3rd party
software conflict), you may perform a clean boot of the SBS 2003 server to
have a try. To do so, follow the steps below:

a) Type msconfig in the command prompt and press Enter
b) Click Services tab and select Hide All Microsoft Services and
Disable All third party Services.
c) Click Startup tab and Disable All startup items
d) Click OK and choose Restart
e) After reboot, check whether the clients can access the shared
folder or not.

2 . For the further investigation, please check whether there is any error
in KB907747.log that is located in %systemroot". You also can send it to me
at Miles Li <...@microsoft.com

I hope these steps will give you some help. If you have any questions or
concerns, please do not hesitate to let me know.

Best regards,
Miles Li
