StarDestroyer.Net BBS :: View topic - Best of Best of the Best: Oscar's Best Picture

This is it, the final vote to decide which was the best Oscar-winning movie over the last eighty years.

It's been a long road, and all of these movies are top-notch quality pictures, but in the end there can be only one.

And the winner is...

Schindler's List.

Of all the movies listed, and I've seen all but 3, it was by far the best. PRFYNAFBTFC-Captain: MFS Masturbating Walrus :: Omine subtilite Odobenus rosmarus masturbari The only easy day was yesterday and that's because it's over.

- Navy SEAL Motto Intelligent Design: Because stupid people can't cope with reality.

This is a tough one.

Each of those movies are masterpieces and I have never regretted watching every single one of them. In the end, it comes down to three movies for me: All Quiet on the Western Front - the movie that could easily be thirty years younger from the looks of it.

And to top it off, it handles a complex thema without being preachy.

For me, there is only one contender for its top spot and that is Schindler's List - on the same level as Western Front.

A powerful movie and Spielbergs masterpiece.

Yet comparing the two of them I cannot help but notice that Western Front is the older picture yet is still on the level. On another note, if you look at the most important movie it has to be Cassablanca - it is actually the weakest of those movies, however you will not fully understand pop references without having seen it.

From the catchphrases to the scenes everyone knows...it has it.

However, in terms of story and acting it is pretty weak. So my vote goes to All Quiet on the Western Front. Whoever says "education does not matter" shall try ignorance Normal: Well, well, well...

So far, your moron colleagues have come up with the following excuses for why you're strolling in here at the crack of noon - you had a dental emergency, your aunt died .

. . again, and my personal favorite from this idiot - you were detained by the sector police for practicing witchcraft.

Now, would you care to further insult my intelligence? Max: I overslept.

Jesus... you don't make things fuckin' easy...

I'll have to get back to you on this.

Fuck. I'm going to have to get back to you on this.

I may even have to have myself a movie night.

All I can say now is that it will not be Platoon, Casablanca and sure as hell not Gladiator. "Fuck you Hav.

Casablanca. What a vivid imagination my brother has.

You don't make things fuckin' easy... Don't blame me, that's the way people voted And yeah, maybe a movie night is a good idea, this really is a tough decision.

Cause Casablanca's on my short list, along with "Bridge".

Sadly, I've only seen three of the ones on the list.

Of those, I'm going with Godfather.

All Quiet was good, but didn't stick with me, and Gladiator (while fun) just doesn't have the same weight as Godfather.

All Quiet and Bridge made my short list but I ended up going with "Bridge," mostly for the awesomeness that was Guiness' performance. Lol! It's a tough one all right, but of the movies I've seen it'd be a toss between Casablanca and Godfather, I think. I think all right-thinking people in this country are sick and tired of being told that ordinary decent people are fed up in this country with being sick and tired. Looks like we might have a winner, unless there's some sudden upswing of voting soon...
