[open] small home, big home, your home - Christian Forums
What do you consider a small living space?
What do you consider a large living space?
Where does your home fall into the scale?

A small living space to me using examples: a studio apartment , a tiny trailer home.
large living space to me: I'd say depending on the family size, maybe homes over 2,500 sq/ft...I dislike McMansions and find overly large homes to be irresponsible and not even very pleasing to the eye.
Again, many families need huge homes to fit the people.
So there are exceptions to every rule.

I live in a 850sq/ft one-bedroom apartment, and while it is not huge, I think it is enough for the two of us for now.
Big house = more cleaning .
I lived in a country where high-rise flats are the norm (80% of residents live in high-rise flats), so to me a 2-storey house is considered a large living space, for a family of 2-4.

I think it depends on how many people are living in the home.
I live in a 1400 sq.
Foot house with a roommate, and it's about perfect size for us.
It's three bedrooms, so we each have one with a spare for the exercise equipment and stuff.
We used to live in a 950 sq.
Foot apt. before this and that way too small for all of our things.

I consider a small living space to be like an effiency apartment.
A large living space would be something over 4,000 sq ft.
Moderate is in between the two.
I live in an average 1900 sq ft home.

I would think something like 1800 sq ft is huge!
Lol
We live in a 3 bedroom house that is approx.
1100 sq ft, and I think it's perfect for us!
Anything smaller would be too small, imo

I live in a cottage style house and i don't know how many sq.
Feet it is. It's 3 bedroom, 2 bath.
It's probably too big for just me, but I love it- the style of the house, the history and the space.
My real estate agent was kind of snarky about how i didn't have a family but was buying this house.
Too bad, I love the house and can afford it and I absolutely HATE the apartments here.
And renting rubs me the wrong way- i feel really irresponsible renting- it was like throwing money to the wind for me.
I think if you can afford what you have, it's no one's buisness how big or small of a space you have.

We just moved (this weekend) from our 750 square foot 2-br duplex unit into a 1350-ish sq ft 4-bedroom house.
750 square feet was fine for just me, but with two of us, it's a bit cramped.
Our new house is certainly not big.
It was a challenge to figure out where to put the cat boxes, and we're still finding places for everything.
But it's much more well-suited for us, and we're very happy with it.
To me, anything over about 2,000 square feet is a large living area.
If we ever have more than 1 child, we'd probably start looking more in that size range.

We live in a small 2 bedroom rental home..
The only that keeps it from being way too small is having the basement.
The rooms are tiny...
For 2 people it would be okay...
For us we're packed in whenever we're all home.
However... when we buy a house we still plan to keep it smallish.
I don't see any need to for tons of space to keep heated or cooled (not to mention clean!!!) Our house is less than 900 sq feet.

Http://www.resourcesforlife.com/grou...iety/index.htm While I don't care for all the McMansions out there (especially since most are not well designed) and agree that they are generally a poor use of resources I also have limited sympathy for people who have a fit about what gets built in a lot they don't own and in a community that doesn't have restrictions that prevent specific structures and businesses.
The time to get active is not when you realize that the woods behind your home has been purchased for some industry you despise...
(can you tell the local battle about where to build our new middle school is still fresh in my mind a few years after the fact?
)
