DC Comics Message Boards: Nolan's Gotham City ...

Christopher Nolan's Gotham City has a lot in common with the DCU Gotham City, post- No Man's Land.

Both are located at the mouths of rivers emptying into the Atlantic Ocean and are essentially islands.

Both are sub-divided roughly into thirds by smaller rivers. Nolan's Gotham City is located at the mouth of the Liberty River.

The river forks, separating most of Gotham from the mainland.

The River Merchant divides Uptown from Midtown, while Midtown is separated from Downtown by the Gotham River.

The Narrows is a small island in the Gotham River.

A creek divides the district of South Hinkley from the rest of Gotham City.

Gotham International Airport is in Pettsburg, to the north. I absolutely love this stuff.

ThanX for those links. I’ve always thought that Gotham City kind of reminds me of a mix between New York and Chicago.

I think it was you who asked this a long time ago but it just comes to mind to ask where would Gotham be if it were a real city in the United States? I mean from the map it definitely appears to be appropriately set in the East coast but where exactly?

Exactly? My best guess: New Jersey.

From what I gather Gotham's real world location would be somewhere in NJ.

Be somewhere in NJ. Yeah that seems about right.

With all the smog and all.

I mean it has that look too.
