The TT Forum View topic - XENON HID kits & 6000k HID bulbs
I have just received a sample Xenon HID kit.
The old H1 is replaced with a new D2S type bulb ( D2S is the TT xenon bulb)
Hope to get it fitted onto a TT very soon ( where are you Phill )
Obviously there are other considerations like professional installation -alien washers and the self leveling mechanism.
Wiring is very simple with only 3 connectors and 2 wires to connect up.
The quality of the kit is superb.
prices are tbc but approx £350.00
I also received a pair of 6000k D2S bulbs (standard are 5000k) which I will try out on 60 seconds
cheers

I have just installed the 6000k HID bulb and the difference in colour is immediately obvious, a much bluer white light :
standard 5000k
new 6000k
I hope they are not too blue at night !
UPDATE, its now getting quite dark outside and the difference in brightness and colour is even more apparent.
The colour difference is almost like having one halogen bulb and one xenon!

Was :- Having seen your work and lights which look awsome, (because you do an impeccable job) would you care to fit some on my push bike please?

Abi - you're gonna need some big batteries on yer bike hon!
Was - Very nice (as ever ).
Am I right in thinking that the 6K bulbs work as a direct replacement for the standard xenon 5K bulbs?
(a bit more brightness is always appreciated )

And furthermore I believe these lights can also be fitted on a 180bhp TT too .

The HID kits can be fitted to any non-xenon TT or even your Raleigh Chopper Abi
the 6000k D2S bulbs are an upgrade for the standard xenon set up

The 6000k HID bulbs retail for £185.00 for the pair, considering Audi charge £146.00 EACH I think they are well priced.
These bulbs are not available in the UK yet.
If there is a lot of interest I could contact the supplier for a possible group buy and get them before they are launched over here
The difference at night is very impressive, all of the road markings & street signs stand out a lot more than with the standard xenons.
In the day they have a lovely blue tint which I think looks

I see what you mean !
good work...
count me in for a kit for the 993
just seen them at
http://www.hidexpress.com/
that 10,000k viloet purple..
Nice !
so is a 8,000k deep blue buld road legal ?
|
 |
I personally think that the 6000k bulb is bright enough, let alone an 8000k!!!
I already get flashes with the standard 5000k bulbs because people think they are too bright!
Lovin the look of the 6000k ones tho.
Might have to arrange a grp buy for them Was!

Hi 'G'
The xenon bulbs are same brightness but with different coloured tints, I am finding that the visability at night is really improved
Maybe one of your xenons is mis-alligned if you are getting flashed, or maybe its because of your rimz ?
A mini group buy could be sorted I guess if there is enough interest

Was and all
correct me if i am wrong, but an aftermarket HID kit is technically illegal in UK unless accompanied by washers and self-levellers.
I know they are sold as an 'upgrade' and are not currently an MOT test requirement (but understand that will be changing soon, like numberplate requirements did).
Also, regs require headlamps to be white, not blue or any other colour...
A taxi driver was recently prosecuted for blue headlamps...
not wanting to be a spoilsport....
But also not wanting someone to find their car impounded and getting a big fine for being unroadworthy.

There goes the 8,000k deep blue
6,000k aqua blue may be just enough !
although what's the deal with motorcycles that ride around with purple headlamps ?
|
 |
I cant imaging the 6000k HIDs causing any problems with Mr Plod.
They do not look'blue but they are much whiter than standard, a bit like Persil a bluey/white
They do have a blue tint at the edges of the beam where the light is being refracted.
