The 'Food, Glorious Food!' Challenge - TSR Forums

The 'Food, Glorious Food!' Challenge Introduction Ann Chovie wants to be the best of the best in the cooking world.

Inspired by her TV Chef Uncle, Ann wants to become a household name in cookery, but she needs your help! Challenge Description Ann Chovie is about to grow up.

She is in her last few days in Private School where she excels in all she does.

Ann lives with her Uncle Chovie.

He is a successful TV Chef who felt obliged to take Ann under his wing when his brother (Ann's father) drowned in his pool recently. Ann wants to follow in her Uncles footsteps and wants to be a Celebrity Chef.

She has a lot of work to do before she can achieve this of course, but is willing to put in the extra effort.

She will need your help though! Thanks to Uncle Chovie's job, the family have sufficient funds, but the house is a little empty since they cleared out for the decorators to move in after the 'pool incident', so you will need to buy them a few critical items along the way. Ann is a Fortune Aspiration Sim, which adds a tricky element to this Challenge, but the objectives are clear and simple.

All of them should be naturally achieved on the path to being a Celebrity Chef, the top job of the Culinary Career. So, have Uncle Biff serve up the Birthday Cake and let Anne grow up and live out her dreams! Link to Challenge Last edited by babajayne : October 31st, 2006 at 09:58 PM.

Reason: adding a link to the challenge.

Just Starting this one Just loaded up this family.

Bought better beds for them.

Bought a chess table and a guitar.

Going to let Ann get as many skill points as possible until she grows up.

Then I'll run her downtown to make some friends and start dating to keep her in platinum aspiration and get points to buy aspiration rewards.

Once she gets a culinary job, things should progress fairly quickly.

I just started this one as well.

I turned the aging off, so I could skill her up before she grows up.

I have her working in the culinary field now... I bought a chess set, and a....(hmm I forgot what it's called all of a sudden LOL) a thing to paint Trying to have her make friends.

I'm thinking I should just let her grow up, so I dont have to deal with homework, & keeping up her grades.

It takes time away from skilling. Anyone else doing this challenge?

I found sending her to Uni was a big help to allow time for skilling and making friends, although it's not essential! The main reason I sent her was that she just wouldn't stop rolling up the go to college want! I think for each of these challenges, you have to develop a plan of attack.

If you play as you would usually play, things will take a lot longer than necessary.

If your goal is to finish the challenge, you may have to think out of the box. Ann Chovie has the advantage of having another wage-earner in the house.

There's no reason to rush her into a job or waste time in college, especially if you have Nightlife.

If you want to grow her up fast, send her to college and then have her drop out.

As a fortune sim, this may cause a major aspiration drop, however, so be careful doing this. My choice was to just have her skill until she grows up.

You should have enough money to keep her aspiration level up, or if you have nightlife, start her dating.

I plan to get enough aspiration points between her and Uncle to get needed aspiration rewards (the thinking cap and regenerator thing) and max her needed skills and get the necessary friends before sending her to work.

Then the challenge becomes keeping her in platinum mood so she gets promoted every work day. Of course, everything may backfire on me, but that's the fun of these challenges!

I started this one late last night and decided to keep her away from college so she could skill up.

It dropped her aspiration level when she didn't go to college but keeping an eye on her wants and satisfying them for a while took care of it. Now I'm just trying to keep her happy so she gets promoted every day she goes to work.

I also started this challenge last night.

Right after I completed Sonny Day I was very excited about getting to a harder one.

I had Ann grow up but she grew up badly because her grades had started slipping because I was neglecting her homework and I didn't want her to go to college was she was very much in the red.

I started her asap in the Culinary Field and am working on getting her cooking and creativy (sp?) skills up.

This challege seems pretty easy, just time consuming.

I am keeping the uncle happy by dating Nina Caliente and I also bougth them a dog, although I am finding out that it seems to take time away from skill builiding because all Ann wants to do is play with the dog!

But, honestly, what sim wouldn't want to play with a puppy?!

My Ann kept spinning up the fear of growing up uneducated.

I knew she would take a hit for not going to college even if it wasn't in her fear panel, but it was -10,000 as a fear.

On the day she was to grow up, I managed to get her into platinum through buying things and luckily, the fear spun out.

I quickly had her grow up, so things weren't so bad.

I took her downtown to meet a few guys;

Spent some time on the phone with them and had a couple dates to get enough aspiration points to buy the thinking cap.

Now I'm doing some skilling in earnest and working on building some friendships so I'll be able to have her date to stay in platinum for the promotions. Although I'd rather wait until she has everything she needs before getting a job, I'm checking the papers every day and will jump into the career if it shows up.

I keep Uncle meditating except when he goes to work just to keep him out of the way for the time being.

I've just downloaded this one and am about to start.

I think sending her to Uni will be really helpful, as not only will she have more time to skill up and meet people, she'll also enter the culinary track at a higher level.

I'm going to let her live out her remaining few days as a teenager before I send her to Uni though, to let her build up skills and make friends as a teenager too. Watch the swallows cloud the sky...

I never took Ann to Uni.

I just saw it as a waste of time.

Instead, I left all the friend making to uncle, whilst Ann devoted most of her time to building her stats.

I also made sure she got promoted in her teen job before she became an adult.

That way, it'd be much easier during the first few levels.

Unfortunately, Uncle kept bringing up the fear of being old and never married, so I turned to a random friend to ensure he didn't!I managed to complete the challenge in 18 sim days, which i was pleased about, only to discover when closing the game that it was 2:30 in the morning! Some snapshots: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...e_724581e2.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...e_12455491.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...e_72458643.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...e_b2458243.jpg

Getting her and Uncle married to townies (who have lots of friends already) was an easy way to gain the friends needed for her job.

Now all she needs to do is get her skills up, while Uncle, his partner, and Ann's partner, maintain their existing friendships via the phone. Watch the swallows cloud the sky...

Ann, I believe, is the only time I have ever played a sim straight through Uni, with no speed up cheats, in on session.

Yep, 8 semesters in one night! I had a similar reaction to codders when I moved her home and looked at the clock As for Uncle Chovie, I sent him out stargazing to get his logic skill up....

And you can guess what happened next!

And of couse, Ann had to chose the next day to practice making cheesecake!

So while Ann hits the top of the culinary career, her UNcle is at home looking after two alien kiddies. My Mini Site How to clone your sims Beacon Falls - 04/02 - Balloth Shopping district now available Looking For a Challenge?...

Quote: : I wish I would have done that...taken her to Uni.

I chose to ignore it in her wants and now all she does is cry over not going.

It's a shame. I can't beleive you played 8 semesters in one night.

Your a sim god. lol!

I must be the slowest sim player in the world.

It's going to take me ages to get these challanges finished.

But, all the fun I'm having. My MiniSite Texture Challenge Showcase Gallery ~ Current Textures ~TLClub~

I'm going to start this one as my second after the introduction.

I try to make some pics but usualy i forget to do so end always end up withe veryy dull pics.

I found a quick way to obtain the needed skills as well - just build up lots of aspiration points, then buy and use the SimVac on Uncle as he has all the skills you need. Watch the swallows cloud the sky...

Since Ann is a Fortune Sim, I don't think I'll have her going to college... I'm able to raise her aspiration a little bit by having her ownling a venture venue home business, next I'll have her buy what she wants and in the meanwhile I'll have her build skills. No need for a job right now I guess, since Uncle's money with the business gave give the family enough money... At least, this is what I hope... My poor Ann isn't faring so well I haven't currently got University installed so that wasn't an issue.

I did keep her unemployed so she could skill at home.

I also sent her downtown to meet guys so she could zip up some points to buy the thinking cap.

That went a bit *too* well as she's currently....

"in a family way"...

Oops. So much for working her way up that career ladder for a few days!! Then there was the baked alaska situation...

The less said about that, the better.

All I can say, is THANK YOU to the lot designer who thoughtfully provided us with the fire alarm....

You definitely saved a life there I've figured out that this challenge won't be done quickly due to the imminent arrival of a wee one so I've allowed Uncle to find himself some romance....

And I'm keeping Ann away from the desserts!!!

Well its my second challenge but it is gonna take me ages i think.

My Ann went to UNI.

I almost never play UNI because I hate to study myself, but i'm enyoing it a lot.

Got 2 objectives already but I got no idee how I got the lobster thingy

You'll get the ability to make lobster themidor if you max out your cooking skills. My Mini Site How to clone your sims Beacon Falls - 04/02 - Balloth Shopping district now available Looking For a Challenge?...

But my cooking skill sits on level 5 and i never made lobster in the game, but still it shows a green objective there

To be honest, I only used Uni twice, then, after the novelty wore off, i just lost intrest.

I just seem to find it incredibly boring, which i don't understand since its just like being at home.

. Maybe it's the lag, i dunno. Anyway, just to make sure this stays an on-topic post, I mentioned in my last post that i married Uncle off to a random friend so he didn't fulfil the fear of growing old single.

What i forgot to mention was...

He only had male friends

I did not send Ann to Uni.

She worked on her skills while still in high school, and continued once she was an adult.

Put her to work as soon as she grew up.

Her and uncle spent their days off making friends.

Ann married a postal worker and poor Uncle fell in love with a girl from Uni, before I realized she was a student.

Much to Uncle's dismay, he got engaged, but never married.

The did adopt an adorable puppy, just after Ann got married, because her hubby's LTW was to have 6 pets at the top of their careers.

He never got his LTW, but they did enjoy playing with the puppy.

It kept Uncle company when his GF was in class.

Quote: : I also sent her to Uni - it was a huge help.

I did Uni on high speed so it only took one night and graduated with maxed cooking, creativity and food interest, plus an Art degree.

Got great job and only needed one promotion.

I also had Uncle marry someone with lots of friends.
