In U.S Muslim societies, are women allowed the same freedoms as non-Muslim women? - Shooting the Breeze - Car and Driver Forums
So, I want to know if women are restricted in what they can do in the U.S muslim areas like they are in the middle east?
Does it differ? Or are Muslim women as independent as other American women?

They have all the same rights and fall under the same laws as any U.S.
Citizen. But if their family take those rights away, oh well, they're SOL.

I think that's the same as in western european muslim families.
There are the liberal Muslims who see the woman equal to the man.
And there are the others.
People are often only looking at the evil muslims.
It's not different in societies based on a conservative christian belief.
Amishs for example, or even Jehova's witnesses don't equalize women.

Inequality is not just a Muslim thing Mish, any fundementalist (nut jobs) groups may do such.

I know several Muslim families here in California and the women of those families appear to enjoy all the rights and freedoms of any American.
