Double-Crossed: Ennis & Burrows talk “Crossed” - Comic Book Resources Forums

CBR News talks to Garth Ennis and Jacen Burrows about Avatar’s post apocalyptic survival horror tale “Crossed," a zombieless horror story that Ennis says is "the most disturbing and f*cked up thing" he has ever written. http://comicbookresources.com/?page=article&id=16780

I am so down for this.

Me too. Can't wait. Premise sounds most similar to Ellis' Black Gas - appropriate since that was also from Avatar.

But it sounds like there are enough differences as to be something else.

I'm looking forward to this.

I really like the promo art in that article.

Holy shit. It looks like Ennis is tired of Vaughan and Kirkman and other people in mucho creative debt to him getting all the post-apocalyptic survival story spotlight and is getting ready to show these new jacks how it's done! -T

I cannot wait for this!

Ennis is a God in the comic world and this art looks excellent! Only down side...

Trade is at least 18 months away :(

Ennis might say no to the former and yes to the latter.

IIRC he always championed Y. Yeah, looking forward to this.

At least a 10-issue arc to start, and with McCarthy and Brooks as influences, and McMurtry as always, hell yeah.

Trade is at least 18 months away :( So buy the issues like someone who wants the book to continue I'll probably pick it up, see if it's any good.

Not liking how they have a rash on their face though.

Kinda sounds like The Signal (2007) http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0780607/ only hopfully better than The Signal

Has Ennis spoken out against Kirkman and The Walking Dead?

Or are you just speculating?

Nah, I would hope and think that Ennis likes Walking Dead and Y. I'm just saying Y definitely and possibly TWD owe a great creative debt to Preacher and in a cool meta-cognitive way I like to think Ennis may be aware of it and trying his old hand at this 'new' game that his work helped lay the foundation for. This thought mainly comes from reading BKV's thoughts on Preacher...I don't remember where, but I've heard him gush about it before.

LMAO, I just remembered the "Fuck Communism" lighter in Y.

How great is it that that is a recurring image in both stories? In fact I think one of the reasons Yorick doesn't get the girl in the end/his relationships with the Beths are flawed is so that it wouldn't be too much like Preacher. It's kind of like the guy who invented long form songs trying his hand at a concept album....I don't know if that analogy makes sense. Meh, I think you all get what I'm saying. -T
