EBAY

DOWN WITH EBAY!!!!

DUMP EBAY!! RUN EBAY OUT OF BUSINESS HELP SPREAD THE WORD.

Hey Bro I am a craigslist fan myself ....why you hate ebay so much....the majority of the sellers are getting paid ?

However, I like Ebay.

I bought my photocamera there and it was 300$ cheaper than in a shop in my country...

It is not that ebay does not have good deals.

It is that they keep on raising their sellers fees.

It seems like every once and a while they raise the fees and make to very hard to profit there.

I'm curious too: why do you hate e-bay so much?

Might be fun to start a threat of e-bay horror stories...

Hi Sunnie... I've been a seller and buyer on Ebay for the last 6 years (a Powerseller the last 10 months or so).

I've loved for the most part the people that I've "met" on both ends.

HOWEVER, Ebay announced about 2 weeks ago that they were raising auction final value fees (the percentage they take based on the auctions end price) on February 20th from 5.25% (on the first $25) to 8.75%.

That is quite a leap.

For items ending at $25.01-$1000, they are taking the 8.75% for the fist $25 then 3.50% on the money above the intitial $25.

Ebay ofcourse has put a "spin" on it stating that they are reducing initial fees are are now giving free picture services...this is just that...a spin.

The FVFs will more than double most seller's fees...so, they are not "giving" anything.

Persons with stores will pay the most however, previously store items that had a final value of $25-$100 paid Ebay a 10% FVF...the new rate is 12% on the initial $25 plus 7% for $25.01-$100, plus 5% of the remaining closing value to $1000. On top of this insult...Ebay is holding PayPal payments for items listed in catogories that they deem are "high risk"...such as electronics, computers, cameras, etc.

They will "hold" the money in limbo (ofcourse they will earn/keep interest earned on this money that is in limbo) until the buyer has left positive feedback or 21 days has elapsed.

So, basically the buyer will ship an item that they paid for...and paid to list...and ship the item out-of-pocket.

They say this is to protect the buyer...but in reality, it is to make more money. Ebay is also instituting in May a new feedback policy....the new policy will not allow sellers to leave negative feedback for a buyer...no matter what the circumstances are.

They can be slow to pay...or not pay at all...demand unreasonable demands and sellers will have no venue to warn other sellers.

I'm not saying that all buyers are bad...on the contrary...but there are alot of scam artist buyers who do try to renegotiate a deal after it is done...or complain trying to get a full refund and keep the item.

All buyers will have 100% feedback...while sellers take a hit for everything from the post office shipping to slow...or the shipping price, the color wasn't quite what the buyer thought, etc. The new set of policies coming into "play" will not help buyers or sellers...they will not make Ebay a better place.

It will discourage communication between sellers and buyers...it will raise the prices of items, and many, many sellers who offer unique, interesting items will be forced to sell elsewhere. MANY sellers and buyers have banded together to boycott this week 2/18-2/25 in an attempt to get Ebay to take a look and reconsider these drastic changes.

Change may be needed, but the change has to be in the best interest of all people on Ebay.

Many sellers have started listing at iOffer, Bidville, Wagglepop, or Onlineauction.

These venues may not have the traffic that Ebay has currently, but as more and more sellers get tired of the fees, etc...they will move to other places to sell...and when the sellers leave...so will the buyers.

Wow Thanks Marla...

You have just saved me heaps!

And cut through the fine print for me.

One thing i dont like about ebay is,when a buyer wins an item and pays immediately, what more is there for him/her to do?

Positive feedback should be given straight away.

I have a 100% record as a buyer but recently started selling and sold 4 items and i gave postive feedback once payment was recieved.

When I sold on ebay I did the same.

99 percent of the time it was fine.

The other one percent was when I would have people that would try to scam or make things difficult in other ways.

So I would wait a little while before I would leave the positive feedback.

I think the worst thing about the ebay fee increases is that they seem to come at a pretty steady pace.

It was okay when you were getting a lot for your money but I do not think that is the case as much anymore.

I have had more than a few month of light selling that I was paying as much in fees to ebay as I was taking in.

I am not sure what they are trying to accomplish by raising the rates.

It is unlikely it will generate that much more revenue because the number of sellers that continue to move away from ebay offsets and increase from the fees.

They say this is to protect the buyer...but in reality, it is to make more money. Well I won't sell ANY of those items, on ebay.

I had Buyer get a time at $300 +plus shipping.

Never used, sat around for 20 years in a box.

New the item retails for $800.

They did a pay pal item not as described complaint.

I have to lose $75, the worst part was it was a consignment from someone else. I had another ebay buyer try something similar.

After the item was sent, he refused delivery.

I kept checking every day, and it went back to the local post office in his area.

He bought an item local and expected me to give a full refund, on an item he could have delivered, or pick up in person.

Pay pal sided with me after a month. I Generally Enjoy Buying & selling on ebay.

I sell Cars, Car Parts, Motor Cycle Parts (Harley Davidson), Industial Machines & Supplies, Uniforms, Fish Lures, Re-loading dies for fire arms.

I can sell items on Ebay that would never sell on craigs list.

I also tend to get a higher amount per item. The problem I see, there is no good alternative for a seller.

There are some other sites, but not one with as many buyers in general as on ebay. Mac Ebay Seller/ Ebay Store

A buyer can pay fast, then make ridiculous demands and be overall just a terror to deal with.

There is so much more to it than paying fast.

When I buy, I always leave feedback first.

When I sell, I have settings to reply with feedback automatically when it is left.

With 1000 auctions closing a month, it is too time consuming to leave individual comments.

The worst is how the rate increase was presented.

I had an email boasting that my up-front costs would be decreased!

I was excited until I read the entire announcement to learn that I would save a nickel in listing fee, but FVF was increasing to 8.__% for the first $25.

Ebay store items are now 12%.

Holy cow!  God only wants 10%, but eBay wants 12%!
