Congressional Resolution Demands Bush Act on Iran

Anon-binding resolution to demand that President Bush impose "stringentinspection requirements" on trade with Iran - language that leavesthe door open for a military blockade - will likely come to the Housefloor this week, according to sources close to Congressionalleadership.
Thelegislation, H.Con.Res.362, which is paralleled by a similar Senatebill, has gained bipartisan support rapidly, with more co-sponsorssigning on bythe day.
Once it hits the floor, it's bound to "pass like a hot knifethrough butter," a staffer in House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's office toldChelsea Mozen of the nonprofit Just Foreign Policy.

Just days after the bill was originally introduced in the House ofRepresentatives by Representative Gary Ackerman (D-New York), AIPAC putout amemo detailing its support for the intentions of the legislation.
Thememo does not specifically mention the proposed legislation, butcontains almostidentical language.
