Hid-look lamps - What brands give the most hid lookalike - AstinaGT Forums
I'm from Holland and a friend of jeroentje.nl.
I'm in Hong Kong at the moment and am looking for replacement head bulbs.
I tried several brands including Philips Blue vision.
In holland the astina /323F has a H1 headlightbulb in combination with projector-lens lighting system.
Because of the lens, the blue bulb from the blue vision , gives a yellow-ish light instead of the white light it produces...i now have Blue lamps, that give a blue-greenish color.the bulb has an oil/gold color coating over it but doesnt exactly imitate the HID look.
Here in Hong Kong i saw many cars with very much HID-like color headbulbs.
Do any of you have replaced their headlights with other bulbs and what brands do you recommend?Concerning light-color but also the vision in the dark and rain
there are so many brands here..philips crystal vision, PIAA extreme white, RAYBRIG....
thanx 4 ur help[/colorost_uid0]

I have tried a couple of the xenon style bulbs and have
never got a real good result.
Even the blue bulbs from
Narva over here don't have the desired effect.
I eventually
gave up and just used some narva +20 bulbs which are nice
and bright but don't have the blue look about them.
Maybe some of the other guys have had better experience.

I was just wondering, would it be possible to get the blubs used in audi's headlight?
Since they r projector lights as well??[/colorost_uid0]

|
i don't think so since the audi uses H7 and H4 lamps and my mazda uses H1 bulbs[/colorost_uid0]

my gf's brother had piaa super plasma headlights in his car...
Its the only halogen replacement (H1 size) that looks CONVINCINGLY blue.
Its something about the tint on the bulb.
Most "blue" lights simply coat the bulb with a blue tint, which doesn't really make the light blue, it makes it yellowish-white.
BUT, the super plasma lights will cost you (another forum mentioned a price around AUD $200), and i think they work better if you car has parabolic headlights.[/colorost_uid0]

My mate's mechanic replaced his blue bulbs when he had a rego check said something about the way they looked (must look dull in day light ??).
My mate didn't really pay attention at the time.
Untill that night when he was driving and he wasn't too happy.

Hey mate, if you're in HK why not just get a HID kit?
It's only about $AUS360($HKG1800) over there!

Alright.. I can't remember if this is true but aren't the Philips H1 globes good ones??
I got a dogalogue in the mail yesterday advertising them for around $60 from Autobarn..
Please advise..

I got the Phillips Blue Vision globes ($60 from Autobarn).
I bought them two weeks ago because a globe blew, and figured I'd replace both.
They are a little brighter than the old ones, but only just.
As for that cool blue look, not there.
Its a bit whiter, but not blue.
Could be something to do with the lenses in our cars, or maybe I was just had.
They also come with blue parkers, but I haven't put those in yet.
Dunno if I will. The police seem to be attracted to them, and the headlights aren't blue, so the parkers won't match.
They are 55W globes, but they claim 100W on the box.
I still don't understand how that works.
They either suck 100W or 55W, not whatever the manufacturer makes up.
'They just burn brighter, but they won't melt the plastic' what what the guy said.
Maybe I need to find the WRMS value
Autobarn had other ones there for $200, which were meant to be brighter, but I can't afford that.
I'd wanna see proof first.
If your going to spend that much, I'd seriously start thinking about HID.
