New to HTML/CSS + Check in / Check out Q. - CodingForums.com
Hi guys/gals
I am new to HTML and CSS, I have been teaching myself inside of Dreamweaver MX 2004.
I have uploaded a website at my teachers paid request to www.attillasautov.com
I am half finished it, he is still to send me information on some of the pages.
If anyone can see anything wrong, or could make suggestions to improve the site would be highly valued.
Also being new to dreamweaver, while setting up the site and FTP server I came across a selector asking about check in/ check out ...
I left it disabled.
What is it's purpose?
Thanks in advance.

This post should go into the site reviews forum if you just want opinions.
I’m not gonna go into the design critizism now but one thing: your images are way too big.
Don’t use PNG format for photos.
Split the title/welcome image in two, make the “welcome” a PNG and the image of Attila a JPEG.
Regular images shouldn’t have a file size of more than 50KB (except you have, for example, an image gallery with explicitly high quality photos).
The check in/check out options in Dreamweaver are useful if more people are working on the site at the same with Dreamweaver via a network.
It warns you when somebody else is editing the current files, so the person editing it has to check out before anyone else can check in and make changes.

Hey thanks for that ...
I had not put much thought into file sizes ...
I had no real say in what would look best in it ...
It is a situation of "i am paying you, I want this here and here and here ...
Or Remove that and hide that and put that in.
Also I thought I had clicked on the site reviews sub forum, anyway to move threads?
