Mind-N-Magick Pagan Forum - Is Camping in a Camper Really Camping?

Is camping in a camper (pop up or other wise) really camping?

It is if you have to have electricity for oxygen equipment.

LOL,

I didn't know... when did that happen?

When did that happen? My mother has to have her CPAP and what we call an oxygenator, wrong word, but we like it.

So, we have to camp in a campgroud with hookups, which means water and electricity.

If ye be amongst trees, rocks, grasslands, riverbanks and lakeshores, tinged with the Spirit of it all - You would be camping.

Tenting or otherwise.

I perfer a tent myself.

My boyfriend and his family camp in camper seems a little snug to me.

If i go with this summer im gonna bring my own tent so i dont have to be stuffed like sausages in the camper with them.

But there pop up is really old and smelly.

Some of the newer ones I wondent mind camping in.

IMO a camper is a necessity for Twinkle camping. I must have electricity for my hairdryer, and plumbing for my daily shower and other necessities. I also must have air conditioning and/or heating, clean sheets and some sort of mattress. Twinkle Loves Roughing It

I have to have all those things too, now that we have the camper and hookups.

I'm spoiled. I want the comfort of the camper, but the beauty of lots of trees, water, trails, etc.

And this is how it should be. One must look their best at all times when enjoying nature.

Growing up, we always camped with a tent...when my children was small...we had a small pop up tent camper my (then) in-laws had an Airstream. I, myself, really don't consider camping anything other than using a tent or a roughing it camper, with no amenities, but that's just my thot. I had a small gas camping stove, but actually cooked mainly over the fire.

Have a lot of iron pans, pot, griddles, skillets and gadgets.

Also cook potatoes in alum.

Foil in coals and all that kind of good stuff....lol.

Gooood eatin. Used to set a big ole pot of beans over the fire...slow cook them all day baked cornbread in skillet....good eatin....

Tents are fine, they keep the bugs off when you are asleep. I like a bedroll on the bank of the river, under a canopy of stars,in summer... Give me a hammock and a bottle of fine wine, some grub and a few clothing options and I'm good when it's warm. I've camped winter, tented, and darn near froze me netherparts off,but loved every moment of it...up before first light with the fire stoked and the coffee brewin' and bacon sizzlin'. Food, shelter and the essential tools with a means to pack out what you packed in,INCLUDING all waste products, are my only necessities. And don't forget the t.p....biodegradable,of course.

Things to know before you go... http://www.soyouwanna.com/site/syws/camping/camping.html While I have a lifetime of wilderness/rustic camping experience, and feel that it should not be done the first few times without an experienced guide/camper,I highly recommend it for everyone...even the "Lites". I'm a hardcore nature freak.

My kids can hack it. Note..Always,ALWAYS pack a mirror or some highly reflective material in with you,to be used as a signal if lost or injured in remote areas,as well as a few 'solar' blankets. *Don't EVER forget extra batteries if taking flash lights, extra propane if it's a source of fuel for heat, light, cooking etc. *ALWAYS pack in a fully equipt first aid kit.* *BRING LOTS OF WATER!!!!

That creek you saw trilling along last spring might be dry in summer months. *And have close to hand at all times a means to defend yourself against any and all predators, even if you only bring a loud airhorn, walking staff and hand ax,bring something. It is better to have a bit too much than a bit too little.

Safety first!

That be some good advice Lady Rose...

Good advice indeed. @ Twink...

Sweetie you are killing me over here...

" and one must always look their best when out in nature...." HAHA Bry and I love to camp.

We go camping every year...

IN fact for our honey moon we packed up a tent and some grub after the ceremony and went into the woods to spend the night. Aaah good times and even better memories... For me there is no other way to camp, it must be a tent or in a roll out by the fire with a blanket of stars to gaze up at.

Now we do bring along a little gas stove in case there is a "no burn" in the area that we go to...

But like Ansu and Lady Rose referred to...

Minimal is best! There is nothing like the smell of coffee and bacon in the morning mixed with the scent of a small camp fire.

My mother-in-law used to have property we camped on, but she had to sell it and we haven't been camping in a couple of years.

We are this year though, I told my husband I couldn't take going another year without camping.LOL In my opinion, if it's not in a tent or under the stars it's not camping, it's RVing.

Not that there's anything wrong with it if you like that kind of thing, but when we go to 'rough it', we prefer less amenities. We've always used a tent or tarp.

We cook over a campfire, or if someone else that's with us brings a charcoal grill that's okay too.

Feelin' dirty? Jump in the river.

Worked for our ancestors. TV?

Video games? You've got to be kidding me.

Go back home.hahahaha
