Intresting, anyone know of some os x vs xp on mac intel.

Obvisouly photoshop isn't native but what about vidoe encodes or 3d renders.

I'd hope that os x gives better perfomance than xp but you never know.

I always found it worrying that MS would publicly announce that they could make a better version of Office for Mac than they could for their own OS, Windows!!

Now it's really worrying that the Wintel boxes can't even run the OS they are designed for, as well as Apple can when, without all the hardware working properly?!!!

Apple have always run a very tight integrated ship.

My AMD 64 X 2 4600+ ASUS SLi nVidia 7800GTX 500Gb SATA PC gets floored by my Dual mirrored door Mac G4 of some 4-5 years old. I can't play intensive games on the Mac....but for everything else the Mac just keeps its cool and gets work done...day after day after day. MHz warz were mythologised as was Mac being costlier.

Everyone in the PC industry could learn from Apple. Mac is a package...I can't get my head around the fact that PC users can't get their heads around that fact. If you ever used a NeXT X86 (clue) machine you'll understand how the whole Apple Mac - OS X thang just worked/s

Have to agree about that.

I'd be interested to hear what spec the macs and laptops were and see what differences there were.

Course could just be the OS was just that bit more efficient or it could be that intel just really likes macs.

Speeds relative anyway.

But isn't it ironic that PhotoShop CS only runs on Intel Macs via Rosetta, and at half the speed of a G5?

It had nothing to do with Rosetta or Mac OS X, the machines were running Windows XP using the unofficial boot process, without the use of the graphics cards (or at least without complete use of the graphics cards).
