PC Pro: Interactive: Forums: Comments: Intel Core Duo chip pushed to 3GHz

An Intel Core Duo T2600 chip, nominally running at 2.16GHz, has been overclocked to a speed of more than 3.8GHz.

I totally suspect that the 3Ghz barrier will be available in the G5 successor.

After all, isn't this the barrier that Steve Jobs wanted with the G5, but Freescale couldn't deliver, so Apple went Intel? Mark

In part that's correct methinks. There is also the GHz/heat issue which seemed unsolvable with respect to G5s, thus limiting the development of PowerBooks/iBooks particularly.
